March 24, 200422 yr Ok so i'm using an EA-81 flywheel with all other EA-82 parts into a 5spd Dual range, my question is what is the step depth, between where the bolts mount and where the clutch surface rides. cause if its too big, it'll slip like i have now, but if its too thin, i'll have it stick, and being in GM central no one knows anything about it. anyone know the spec?
March 24, 200422 yr your ea81 flywheel should be turned to ea82 D/R specs..... a decent machine shop should have the specs......
March 25, 200422 yr Author are the specs that much different than the Ea-81? cause they don't seem to have many specs on hand does anyone know what they are?
March 25, 200422 yr I don't think its necessary to turn the flywheel when using an ea82 clutch disc as long as u use the ea81 pressure plate and ea82 throwout bearing it should work fine from what I was understanding.. I really need to make sure this is true before I slap all of mine together but Jerry (Bratsrus1) didn't do anything except have his flywheel turned as far as I understood.
March 25, 200422 yr Author I'm using an Ea-82 pressure plate, i thought that would be ok, i guess we'll see tomorrow.
March 27, 200422 yr Did you do the tranny swap? And what is the correct answer to the parts used? Which pressure plate? Throw out bearing? Clutch? Flywheel? Any other surprises in the swap?
March 27, 200422 yr Author I posted another thread, but the quick and dirty is that you use the flywheel and pressureplate from the same engine, ie if its an EA-81 use the ea-81 flywheel and pressure plate, if your installing an EA-82 tranny, like the 5 spd dual range use the EA-82 clutch and throw out bearing, the pilot bearings are the same for both flywheels.
