March 25, 200422 yr I've searched and found some posts regarding a brighter alternative to the 1157 backup light bulb. Problem is, what I read seemed contradictory from one post to the next. Is there a definitive answer to the proper brighter replacement for the 1157 bulbs, and where can they be purchased?
March 25, 200422 yr let me just clarify one thing for you. The backup bulb should be an 1156. 1156 = single element like used for reverse) 1157 = dual element (Like used in most american cars as parking and stop) Keith
March 25, 200422 yr I suspect that you could find an "LED" style replacement for this bulb if you really wanted it. Specialty shop, performance store, places like that. If that helps at all. Commuter
March 25, 200422 yr I used a 50 watt halogen back-up bulb in one of my vehchles. Works great. There can be a problem with the bulb melting plastic, if left on too long. An LED alternative would be nice but I don't know of any.
March 25, 200422 yr http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ If it is available and he doesn't have it, he can most likely get it for you. He is also very helpful with any technical questions/suggestions. I bought several sets of bulbs from him. Top-Quality products. -Heikki
