May 17, 201213 yr Car: 85 gl hatch with a ea 81 Okay so here's what is happening i just tested this my car it will not run with the choke open but if i pull the chokes fuse and have it shut it runs just fine just a little underpowered from the lack of air because of the choke being on but i dose not die like if the choke was open. so what the hell is happening

Could be fuel starvation too.Check the fuel level in the carby sight glass.
May 18, 201213 yr no i haven't but it supposedly has a new one ill check it in the morning One under car by pump and one in the engine bay. Change them both.
May 18, 201213 yr theese carbs had a small screen on the needle and seat for floats if you take the feul inlet line off you can look in the carb and c it look for crap pluging it and on the side of carb is a anti deseiling soilinod make shure its getting power and moveing also check that choke heater bimeatel spring has not broken

May 21, 201213 yr Author OK well the anti dieseling solenoid is working just fine ad the choke is good and i also changed my o2 sensor just in case because it is a calif car so its a feedback carb
May 21, 201213 yr Slow jet is clogged somehow. take apart carb and blow out all the jets and emulsion tubes. replace the 2 tiny orings that seal the airhorns to the venturi ports
May 22, 201213 yr Author well i look at the ecu light ad its a error code 63 so that's the canister purge solenoid would the effect this?
