well meant to put this up a while ago but got swamped with other projects.

 

My ac bracket broke on me (before it got hot out) and didnt want to buy a new one becaue its oregon and it never gets to hot over here. Then it ironically got pretty scorching for a week or so, so i decided to draw one up in solid works and 3d print it out in PVC.

 

 

here it is next to the broken one. The piece on the threads was the first prototype, didn't work so great, it broke haha

 

tapped out t the 12mm and in its place!

 

Here it is working like a charm!! Its got through at least a month of testing and still works great!

 

ironically after it got it on, it started to rain....

 

beats paying 10$ for another one to break!

 

Any one need one??

That's cool but.... They are $6 from the dealer and always in stock. The only time I've seen them break was from people running them past the limts of the adjustment slot or from a rusty lead screw.... Which can be fixed with a wire wheel and some anti-seize.

 

To put forth the effort to make a new version I would do it in steel. But then you have to consider what will break instead if you make that part bullet proof. The way I see it that's a "stupidity fuse" - designed to sacrifice a $6 part to save more expensive things from being monkey fisted.

Good point! but yeah i was just to lazy to go and but one, and didnt want to spring to the 6$ and shipping. On top of needing something to draw in class.

 

and its more fun when you design it your self

 

if i were to make it for real, id make it out of aluminum, steel would be to Bulletproof.

 

and im trying to think what else would break... and im pretty sure the only thing would happen would be the pulley and the nut would probably just end up sliding up.
