Machine shop making Xt6 5 lug rear hubs: gauging interest.

Featured Replies

Okay so I am starting to talk to a machine shop to make new rear 5 lug hubs EXACTLY off of the original ones (4 wheel drive XT6). Everyone is trying to get these rare rear hubs and thought this could be a possibility if there are enough people interested.

Not to rain on your parade, but there are a number of guys here doing them for around $100 or so. A machine shop making them new? Punching the hole for the axle splines requires special tooling not readily available. Materials, CNC time, set up. I would imagine they are going to quote you somewhere in the 4-$500 range. I only say this because my buddy owns a machine shop and we've been over different options trying to keep the price down. We're building a jig so I can do it at my shop. Trying to get the guide done now, but it's racing season for him....

Just my 2 cents.....

I"ve never heard of anyone making them except Crossbred performance in Australia.

Shorti, I myself am definately interested.

I assumed we were talking about 4 to 5 lug jobs. If not, my

apologies, however the estimate is still going to be close. Rear hubs from the 87.5 XTGL10 can be redrilled to 5 lug and will fit. The spline count is the same.

Are these gonna be available in disc brake rears as well?

It will be hubs for rear disk only. I am not talking about re drilling anything it's the conversion parts for gl's etc. to go from 4 to 5 lug. The ones from Australia (their full conversion kit) is 1200 USD. Which is super expensive.

It is but I still think its worth it. Time spent finding, building, and making XT6 stuff work is pretty extensive. I really like that it has the disc in drum ebrake setup instead of just a caliper and its cable. Could also work a group buy and combine shipping, do it when exchange rate is advantagous, etc to make it cheaper.
