Seeking Brat clutch advice

Featured Replies

Just got an 84 Brat with 140,000 no leaks, rust or ever been wrecked. It appears to never even been off road. What percentage do you think of the clutch is left? I need to take this to a remote island location where it is going to get some use. There isn't any facilities for working on cars over there. I'll actually swap out the 82 Brat that's been there for 20 years. It's clutch, axels are tired with a host of other issues.

I was just going to replace the clutch as a precautionary measure in the 84, but the everything is just so nice and tight. It drives like a new car. I also have another 82 here that looks great but it's a piece of poo compared to the new one.

You might be able to pull the timing plug from the bell housing and use a flashlight to see if you can see the depth of the 'valleys' in the disc. Can't remember though if you can see the disc through there. If it were me, I'd put one in it. Cheap insurance.

If you end up replacing the clutch, I'll sell you my NOS clutch kit.
