  1. Our brats are getting a little old as we are. We will still keep them. But we needed a newer rig. We just bought a 2006 Baja. One we test drove had a compass in the rear view mirror. Can I just add a new mirror with that feature on? Will there be a pigtail connection up in the overhead for it? My wife isn’t going to want me splicing wires in her new car just yet.
  2. Use to take 4 pumps of the petal to get the motor started. Now it's about 8 pumps. Runs terrific once started and is getting 31mpg. Do you think the fuel pump may be tired? What's would be the best pick form a replacement. Thanks Bart
  3. Hey djankowski and wagonist, great info and thanks for taking the time to help. That's what I get for not reading the manual. Will go fix this right away! B
  4. Got this Brat a year ago. 130,000 miles and it's in very good condition. Appears to not been off-roaded. I did replace the front axles as the boots were torn, Noticed a little rattle 6 months ago and tightened the big nut on the axel. This lasted for 1000 miles and the rattle came back. I replaced the hub and cone washer. Now the other side started the same thing. I can't tighten the nut anymore and there's still play around the cone washer. What gives? I'm not finding anything in the forum, which is a first. Maybe I'm not searching correctly? Not seen this problem on our other 2 Brats that are used hard.
  5. Thanks I will look into that. I will look at Hondas the next time I'm at pull a part. bart
  6. These hold the door panels to the door. I can find some at the auto parts store but they are not a good fit. Does anyone know where to get a good replacement? Thanks bart
  7. Thanks guys this is wonderful info and very detailed. Nice to hear from you Washingtonians. Bart
  8. I keep getting the wrong exhaust gaskets for my Brat. The stud center to center one mine is 3". The wrong one is over 3.5". The exhaust hole on mine is 2" and the incorrect one is 2.25". Does anyone know the part number for the one I need? Has my Brat been modified so that the Napa or rock auto parts won't fit? Thanks Bart
  9. Just got an 84 Brat with 140,000 no leaks, rust or ever been wrecked. It appears to never even been off road. What percentage do you think of the clutch is left? I need to take this to a remote island location where it is going to get some use. There isn't any facilities for working on cars over there. I'll actually swap out the 82 Brat that's been there for 20 years. It's clutch, axels are tired with a host of other issues. I was just going to replace the clutch as a precautionary measure in the 84, but the everything is just so nice and tight. It drives like a new car. I also have another 82 here that looks great but it's a piece of poo compared to the new one.
  10. Thanks for the input on my rollbar rack configuration. Great analysis on the issue. We are getting much closer I think. I tried to quote/post back to you in the forum, but it didn't work. Your stuff looks great by the way. Bart

  11. Got the 3rd headlight from Brian. Looks great, thanks. Bart

  12. Hi folks, I'm trying to design a rollbar lightbar showbar that converts quickly to a light duty rack. I'm not designing it for roll over protection. A few extra lights added might be nice. I would like to deploy this without climbing into the bed or using tools bolts pins ect. If you like, go to YouTube and type bartdavis100 you can see the configuration rendered up on computer. If you have any ideas how to better the way it rest on the tailgate and keep it aesthetically pleasing while keeping with the quick deployment theme. I would appreciate the help. Oh, I shaped my tailgate trim out of a solid piece of aluminum so it will take The abuse. This rack would only be used if I happen to need to carry something long and relatively light. I will use my big diesel Dodge for carrying the loads of lumber! Thanks Bart
  13. Just about done with the Brat restore. Could you tell me how to get one of these boots? Thanks, Bart
  14. Thanks Superbrat. Do you know the milage, and also know someone who can pull it? I will just be travailing thru. Bart
