October 22, 201213 yr I have tried several searches and I come up with "no matches". What are the best years for a direct fit 2.2 swap into a 2.5 car? I can't remember what the range of years is. Thanks guys
October 22, 201213 yr Mike, You're kidding right? A 95 2.2 AUTO!!! is preferred because your Ypipe will work. (MUST HAVE EGR). 96, 97, 98 will work but you'll need the single port Ypipe from that engine. As usual a littel rubber hose plumbing work for VC breathers and maybe EVAP.
October 22, 201213 yr Author Dave: I was thinking that the 95 auto was the right one, but I couldn't remember. Now all I have to do is find one. Not too many in the JY's down here right now. Thanks for the info.
October 22, 201213 yr I was thinking the same thing as Dave - you're kidding right? You didn't mention what years as there are different phases but we can infer since you didn't question dave that you're talking about a 96-99 Outback. 95 automatic or 96-98 with a single port ypipe and make sure the engine has EGR there is no rhyme or reason to 96-98 having EGR or not, but most that i see around here do have EGR so lots of easy 96-98 options too.
October 22, 201213 yr Author Okay try to be a little easier on this old guy. I didn't put the year and you were both correct. Thanks
October 22, 201213 yr but I couldn't remember. it's called a senior moment, get used to it. we're not getting any younger.
October 22, 201213 yr Author I know I am definitely not getting any younger. A senior moment it is. Thanks for everyone's help.
October 23, 201213 yr Okay try to be a little easier on this old guy. I didn't put the year and you were both correct. Thanks oh yeah wasn't being hard at all...no poking meant at all, was genuinely surprised so i wasn't sure how to answer since i assumed you knew those swaps.
October 23, 201213 yr Author Gary: No offense taken. It has just been a while since I have done one and Loking in the jy hasn't been all that helpful. Thanks again for the info.
