How do I remove this trim piece?

Featured Replies

My 93 Legacy wagon has a body colored trim piece that sits at the front of the rear wheel opening. It covers the body between the rear door and the wheel arch. I have to remove it because I see rust stains running out from under it. It is plastic and I don't want to break it. Any ideas? do I pry?, there seem to be no screws holding it on etc. It sits right above the rockers and goes up about a foot. Thanks

I've got the same piece in front of me. Apparently someone removed it before I bought the car and broke 2 of the three little plugs that push into holes in the car. There are two on the upper end (where the side trim stripe is) and one about 2 inches up fromthe bottom. It would apprear that if you gingerly pry up at the preescribed points, it should come off easily enough. Again, I'm looking at one that has already been broken.

I'd probably use a small prybar, one with a 90 degree bend in it. Maybe a wonderbar.

It's raining too hard to go out and look, but I am assuming there is nothing you can remove to gain access to the back?

correct. Are those tabs the kind that break when you remove them, rather than "reuseable" tabs.

Hmm, on my 1990 model Legacy they were just stuck on with double sided tape. That's what I used to re-attach them after a rust job, and they haven't fallen off.
