WTB: 1978 EA71 1600 Clutch Fan

Featured Replies

Looking for a clutch fan for a 78 wagon with an EA71 1600 engine. Mine shattered awhile back and am looking for a replacement. This is the belt driven fan that is roughly 7 or 8 inches across that bolts with 5 bolts to the front of the engine. If anyone happens to have one of these guys lying around PM me. Thanks very much.

Here are two pics of it. The fan is all busted up as you can see. It had five fins on it and the circular part of the fan measures roughly 3.5" across. The second photo is of the back of the fan. The whole assembly bolts right to the front of the engine and is belt driven.

THOUGHT I HAD YOU COVERED..........MINE ONLY HAS FOUR BLADES.......BUT WILL KEEP LOOKING!!

Well hell that should work. 5 fins, 4 fins. What's the difference in a vehicle that is 35 years old. How big is the fan from end to end? Is the center ring roughly 3.5 inches across. It looks like the same bolt pattern so I don't see why it wouldn't work perfectly. Did it come off an EA71? Feel free to email me

Do you have a price in mind? Shipping would be to 85745.  Thanks.  Gotta love the message boards.

strange my 78 only has an electric fan and no prevision for a engine driven fan why not just go electric? would be alot easier to find and can be cheap

with a hayden fan controller

for about 100 bucks you can run 2 fans with the same controller allowing for better cooling and no drag on the engine just an idea though I have basicly given up on replacing stuff like stock fans because for one there hard to find and for 2 there are solutions out there that preform better so why stick with the old tech?

Well i do have an electric fan as well. This fan bolts straight to the block and has a pulley on it with a belt that also drives the a/c unit. I gather that it came due to the a/c. If I hadnt found one that would have been my option but honestly I wasn't in any hurry. Danny had what I was looking for cheaper than rigging up a new electric fan. Thanks for the input though. If I end up pulling the a/c id probly go that route. Haven't had her running long enough to test it to see if it's working properly. Seems like it still has a charge though.

Hopefully this damn gas tank problem will be fixed sometime soon due to my recent replacement find. That's been my biggest problem. Luckily I've had a recent surge in motivation to work on her.
