nutt7
I would like a more efficient turbo for my ea82t. I was thinking a DSM unit (14b). my roommate has a 90 eclipse and I like the way it pulls and sounds but I am not sure about its efficiency or compatibility. I was also thinking of a legacy turbo...are these more efficient? does anyone know where I could find this info? any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Dr. RX
A turbo that is tuned for a 2200cc engine would not be more efficient then a turbo that is tuned for an 1800cc engine. Chances are the turbo would be larger, therefore having more mass to overcome, the exhaust pressure of an 1800cc engine is less then that of a 2200cc engine and would labor more to get the impaler spinning creating greater back pressure on the valve train, and too much back pressure is not good. You need to understand what map the turbo you are using has, and what map you need to get the performance you feel you need. There are several publications out there on turbocharging that will explain this and how to figure out which map is best for what you are looking for. To get the correct turbo for your engine is a lot more science that just swapping other turbos on the see fi they work.
