no low beams

Featured Replies

so my 84 wagon lost its low beams last night..  all 4 bulbs work fine if i turn on the high beams..  nothing but park and tailights on lowbeam tho..

where is the headlight relay?   already check all my fuses..

there should be two headlight realys right above your left knee under the plastic cover wiring should be black with red stripe or black yellow black and white. But as far as i know realys are left and right not high low so u whould only lose one side not all four bad contacts in high low switch mabee

Your high/low beam head light switch is probably buried in your steering column. To change it, you may need to pull the steering wheel.

figured it out,  there is a big yellow plug under the dash on the left of the steering column, apparently it houses the wires to the headlights and blinkers..   one connector is burned..  have to repair it :)

Had the same issue on the '85 BRAT. Had me scratching my head for a bit before I found the burnt connection.

Glad to hear you found the problem. The headlights do share a commom relay like Ivans Imports thought. The power for the dash lights is also passed though one of the relays. The grounding for the selected lights is made through the light switch.
