May 29, 201312 yr When I put in my clutch it squeaks, all the way in and all the way out. I sprayed the spring where the pedal is with WD 40 and it had no effect, does this mean my cable is going out?
May 29, 201312 yr Did you spray the pivot pin for the pedal? The pin usually slides out if you remove a cotter pin on one side, there should be a couple of plastic bushings that fit around the pin that can wear out and are replaceable. If nothing else you can wipe some lithium grease on the pin and put it back in. That should cure it temporarily.
May 29, 201312 yr I have a minor squeak too and was wondering how folks lube the clutch pedal way up there and what they use. so, this pin can be removed with no fear of flying springs?
May 29, 201312 yr Do you have a Cable? or is your clutch hydraulic? Usually the hydraulic ones 'squeek' and it's right under the hood where the slave rod meets ... and I mean on BOTH ENDS.... I have seen people put a high temp grease or lubriplate on the tip of the hydraulic rod where it meets the clutch fork .... squeek gone .... but only for a few days. You have to lubricate BOTH ENDS of the slave rod. I PUSH the rod back into the slave, then remove it along with the rubber dust cover, Then you see it has 2 ends. The one under the dust cover that fits nicely into the center hollowed slave piston. And the other end you plainly see against the clutch fork. Lube BOTH ends and the squeek will be no more.
May 30, 201312 yr My 98 Outback squeeked/creeked pretty bad right before I replaced the clutch. I used plenty of grease on the push rod on the slave, as well as the clutch fork.... almost 3 years later, it's now starting to squeak again. It just seems like it's inevitable after the grease breaks down.
