August 1, 201312 yr I have a 1992 subaru legacy 2.2L and need to find the evap canister purge valve to replace it. HELP!
August 1, 201312 yr The ones I've seen are bolted under the number 3 intake manifold runner. That may not be true for an OBD1 car, but its easy enough to check.
August 2, 201312 yr There is a solenoid on the firewall as well as one under the intake. Follow the line from the charcoal canister. The canister under the trunk is in later models, but the solenoid is still on the intake.
August 2, 201312 yr 1st gen Legacy (1990-94) - the purge control solenoid is under the intake manifold on right side of car (in between the intake & block) - kind of a pain in the backside to get to, but it can be done. I can get you a pic if you need one... are you sure the solenoid itself needs to be replaced? could just be a bad vacuum line - they tend to get very hard, and prone to cracking due to heat in that area... August 2, 201312 yr its not the solenoid its the valve with three outlets. two on opposite sides one in the middle. If you know what it looks like, why can't you find it? Why do you think it needs replaced? In a 92 legacy the evap should be controled by the solenoid under the intake. I can't think of any other "valves" other than maybe the rollover one way valve back up above the gas tank in the line.
