83 Hatch might get an EA81T motor

Featured Replies

I have an 83 Hatch, only two wheel drive though, but have now found an EA81T motor , transmission and all other goodies, might take on another project of putting the EA81T into the hatch... Any body got any ideas ? ? ?

Well the sad part is that the hatch is an automatic, the coupe is an automatic, and the wagon that Chris ( the other half that created the 78 turbo brat) has is an automatic, so i would have to search out an automatic, and seems that the yard i was at today had nothing but autos. what cars would be a good donor for a 2wd 5speed ? or would going to a 4wd conversion be easier as i have a 5speed i can use for that ? with the drive shaft and rear end and all from another car ? Would they bolt into the hatch ,even though the hatch is a 2wd ?

The 4WD clutch fits nicely on the 2WD 5 speeds. I have done it. No issues.

And yes - 4WD conversion is possible.... take a look in my album for pictures of my wagon before and after.....
