  1. Not to mention that you left an oil trail all the way out to the main drag, i have a nice puddle behind the bosses house. LOL he can clean that up, not me. Not to mention saturday was just a bad day all around. you blow up my motor, i wreck my truck, what could be any worse. LOL
  2. Sounds like fun to me, you buying the beer too
  3. Where is that? EDIT.. Ooops.. I'm on someone else's computer.. this is Caleb
  4. If only us texans could get enough snow and ice here to do something like that
  5. http://www.big-boys.com/articles/roadstunt.html Pretty funny
  6. Already have the 5 speed push button in my 78 brat. Size was ok, but linkage was a little tricky with the shifter being pushed back a little more. But no big deal.
  7. As far as i know i dont see why it wouldnt be possible. You could probably get all the parts you would need from the same era of car you have. like the P/S pump, lines, and the rack, and put them in to your brat. But i would wait and see what anyone else has to say on the idea.
  8. about 4 months ago, i put a 2wd trans (auto) from an 87 wagon, into the 83 brat i had. everything was bolted in, onlything i ran accross was tranny mount needed a little help if i remember.other than that, it went well. and wasnt very hard.
  9. The wire method is usually what i have had to do to get it to drain, does it try to drain at all if you pinch the end of the drain hose i know some chevys have a closed end with a slice in them and sometime enough dirt will clog them. just be careful when using the wire method and just make sure you dont poke anything that feels too solid, or you can go to the store and get a coffee straw and try putting that into the drain hole and getting it just past the clog and stop when you get a stream of water come out of the straw. things you can use with out puncturing anything valueable hardline vaccumm line like those plastic ones coffee straw, thick walled vaccumm line
  10. I like the painted floor, will add the extra grip you would need to hold that car down. Come help me get the gt40 car
  11. Is your car using the glass fuses, i know at times the clamps that hold the fuses get corroded and loose. try taking the clamps that hold the fuses and cleaning them with some sandpaper, and using needle nose pliers to squeeze them together some for a tighter fit
  12. Welcome to the board and glad you chose an older subie to show europe what they are missing. have fun and lots of good people here
  13. Well not quite the same thing, but i am working on a 88 wagon got the top cut off , now working on makeing the back work like a brat tailgate, then i have to work on the back wall of the cab, so it would end up being a 4 door brat with a truck bed. but never really thought about takeing two brats and doing that with, but i guess if you had one that had a messed up title or no title you could do it and not feel so bad about it. i just finnished building a new computer, so as soon as i get everything loaded i will post pictures of the project periodically.
  14. i have a dead 3at with a bad front and rear diff, but the trans itself shifted fine. if you need it let me know. i can pull the governor out and send it to you,
  15. I know its not completely related, but i did take a 3at from an 87 turbo wagon and put it into a 83 brat that needed a tranny desperately. the only thing i saw was that the crossmember from the brat had to be used and that the mounting holes were different, so i had to drill new ones in the brat crossmember. again though this is going from a ea82t to an ea81 and a wagon to a brat, but everything else was fine.
  16. Ok more news on that 83 brat your driving, when you get done with it, its getting an ej22 4wd 5speed out of a car i just got today, totaled but runs and drives, sounds like a good canidate since i dont have to sell the brat now.
  17. When you coming back to Denton Monk ? Need some help making the 4 door brat out of a 87 turbo wagon ? Sorry to hear about your clutch and motherboard.
  18. Evil hmmmm nah not evil, its called free internet LOL
  19. as i have never worked with leather before, i would probably choose to work with the leather than to do a transmission again on a ea81 brat. LOL Glad to see you back on the board Caleb, did you get your landline back up yet ? didnt have time to call you today.
  20. I also have two trannys laying in the back of the shop, so if you end up needing one just $25.00 + shipping would be enough.
  21. Well the 83 brat i just finnished pulling the transmission on had a problem in the spider gears making a really bad sound almost like someone hitting it with a sledge hammer when you were driving the vehichle slow, you could feel the car jerk. even with the car not running just put the car in neutral and we pushed it around it would make the clunking sound and could see the motor and trans move accordingly with the clunking. havent exactly pulled the transmission apart yet, but am going to sometime today or tomorrow, and i will post pics of what i find. In my findings i noticed that everytime i put the car up on jackstands and then back on the ground it got worse. of course i checked the simple things like axels stub axels hubs and so on, and all seemed to be in great shape, so the only thing left to do was to replace the trans, i replaced the trans and presto, car runs great as it use to. shame though cause i couldnt find another 3at 4wd tranny in good enough shape to trust it, so i went with a 2wd unit for now until i find a good 4wd unit. The 4wd to 2wd swap was really easy, just drilled two new holes in the 4wd crossmember to allow the mount to be bolted down. everything else hooked up like it was suppose to, except the plugs for the wiring was different, i left them disconnected.
  22. If in doubt, put half a quart in at a time until you can see that you are getting to your full mark then adjust quantity of oil being poured to bring you to the full mark.
  23. Festivities, hmmmmmmm its now currently 3:36AM and i just got back from delivering the Ford truck to her dad, so let me get some rest, and then i will finnish cleaning all the tranny fluid out of the back of the truck and then i will head on over there to help out for a little while with some of the big stuff, but i need to do that motor swap in the legacy. Which i think has you beat on your wagon, it poors out water faster than you can put it in all around the motor, heads and radiator. LOL but you are more than welcome to the truck when you need it. Just call and let me know when you are ready.
  24. It wouldnt make it out of the shop without leaking all the water everywhere, just drive it on the lawn and water the yard at the same time. LOL Truck runs and drives great. but needs some serious suspension work. Pulls extremely hard to the right.
  25. Careful, there Caleb, that is my POS. At least it runs and drives. not that i can say the same for your twagon. HAHAHAHA Which is sitting on my trailer now. Waiting to be towed somewhere. Maybe to the local PAP. Ford tranny is swapped, will be driving in about an hour.
