  1. Yeah in Texas it gets pretty hot. A/C is almost a must.
  2. Went to garland to pick up the Brat and load it on the trailor, as i dont need any tickets for no insurance, registration or inspection. went to turn the key and the motor just went round and round, coil wire super soft. and about twice the regular size. Didnt realize i had put on my brat. Yet again another ford coil saved the day. LOL
  3. Well i have actually got two wagons an 87 and 88 to do with what i want. so i was actually thinking about putting something into them but not sure what yet. and i have a 5.0 , 305 and a 350 vortec at my disposal to put into something. so i am not sure yet what i am going to do or if i do anything with them at all. like i said before i have too many things i am currently working on, and i have two that i have to finnish by the end of the month , one a 87 conquest with a 302 and an 88 turbo rx7 with a 350.
  4. Well here we go again with the idea of the v8 powered brat, i think it would be awsome. and i would think you would be able to use everything from the brat harnes to run the v8. so there wouldnt be much wiring, just use the brat sensors in place of the v8's so that the dash will read correctly. But yes i have actually thought about it, wouldnt see it being that hard especially after doing a ea82t into a 78 brat.
  5. yeah i have the compressor and so on, i just have to get the lines made , i have the ones from the wagon, and so on, i just have to get them put together with the appropiate ends on each end for the car and compressor, and i am going to have them run a more frontal route.
  6. Well time to update the thread as more work has been done. Had the old cracked dash taken to a place and had them fiberglass the dash. what a nice job too. looks really good, but the only draw back to it , is that it is now smooth. was thinking of putting something on it like a rhino liner, but with smaller particles so that it wouldnt be so rough. any ideas on this one. Custom axels cost $85.00 a peice. and its a one peice axel with the correct ea82 on one end and ea71 for the brat on the other end. Custom 3 core radiator made with from the form of the stock brat radiator to fit in the stock place. Sand blasted bed area, rhino lined. Trim on side of car removed, holes brazed up, and ground smooth after giving the holes a beveled type edge to hold the braze. Transmission mount reworked to give better support. Couple of joints to make the steering colum clear the axels. although lifting the brat would fix the problem too. Pulled the wiring harness and ran more tape around the wires, then wire loomed them after extending some wires. Gave the front wheels some new bearings to ride on as the car sat for over 20 years. Boiled the gastank, ran new 5/16 inch steel lines from front to back with compression fittings at the tank with a 6 inch peice of flex line. and so many more little things like gauge cutouts in the dash for water, temp and oil. Boost not really needed as i dont really plan on pushing much more than stock as i dont think the car will hook up well with out some 40's on the back. or a ton of concrete in the bed. Will post some updated pics of it soon. Just really busy working and trying to get things together between this project and another one which is a 87 chrysler conquest with a 5.0 mated to a 5 speed done in time to go to new york.
  7. Garner, I have to give it to you all hands down. You make my 78 turbo brat look like its nothing compared to yours, but how do you like hittin second gear and third ? well worth the time i would say. now i just need to come up with some more time and go into mine and get it all souped up but i dont think i am going to go with the intercooler as i am going to keep the spare tire location. Fixing to start another project "Thanks to Caleb" its a 87 or 88 wagon with an ej22 mated to a 5 speed d/r 4wd. But i dont know if i will use the wagon or the 83 brat yet. ] But again, very nice work. wish i had taken the time to do all that, but if you stomp a mustang and show him your motor, he's going to know its modified. as with mine it looks like its all stock like it came that way. and they just look at you funny wanting to know where they can get one.
  8. I have a nice EJ22 that is looking for a home, either that or i am going to get another wild hair and put it into the 83 brat. but the two legacy's i have are both 2wd auto. and i havent seen or found a 4wd 5 speed or auto tranny anywhere. But then again i havent really looked yet either.
  9. Or as Caleb likes to do when he comes to my house, drive through the ditch that my Dodge ram cant go through to get out onto the road. LOL But when i got the 87 wagon 5 sp d/r i was then able to go through it , it was a blast. As for your lowered cars, to each there own, i like being able to drive fast over railroad track, not creep over them.
  10. Yeah i want to know also, as i have a 92 legacy that i am planning on using the motor out of the car and possibly using the d/r 5 speed i have. so if an adapter would work, might be a good idea, or i will just find a ej22 5 speed tranny and use that instead.
  11. not saying anything bad here, but i have a 87 gl wagon that has blown head gaskets, so i know its not running as good as it should, but i noticed that it had been over filled with oil, and when i made a sharp turn with it it put out alot of smoke, but when the car sits still not doing any wild turns or hard curves it doesnt smoke, or run hot or at least hasnt run long enough to get hot, just long enough to be moved around and maybe the occasional donut in the feild next to the house. So just check to see if you are by chance over filled. now how that would cause a problem, i dont know, but its the only thing i can think of that causes the wagon i have to look like a mosquito spraying truck until it settles down from a hard turn, Good luck.
  12. All i have to do is drag the car over, and remove the parts, how do you want to ship them to you ?
  13. Correction on my part there, you would need to wire in a relay. from the the solinoid, cause if you run it direct, once you start the vehichle, your starter woudlnt disengage, you could even use a ford solinoid to do this with. and just run a hot wire to one side from the battery, and then the other to the coil, then once the car starts and you let go of the key the backfeed of power wouldnt energize your starter solinoid keeping it engaged. But i still lean towards the switch being the problem.
  14. Miles, you dont have to wire in a momentary switch, you can just run a wire from the hot wire on the starter solinoid, and then back to the coil, problem solved. you will get power to the coil while cranking, and would have power at the coil, once you let go of the key to the run position. otherwise i would look into the actual key switch after you hook the ground wire back up. just put a new end on it and reattach it to a good ground. then if problem persists, just jumper a wire from the solinoid to the positive side of the coil. Good luck
  15. What year hatch are we working with, i have a pretty clean 83 hatch that i am parting out but no one has come forth on needing parts from it so far. If i can help with what i have let me know, and tell me how much you need of the rears and of the rockers.
  16. So i take it no one wants any parts off the car, i will take 500 for the whole car if i cant snag a buyer this way. i will just put the tranny to the side until i find another brat to do a nice swap with. may have found two in longveiw. but need to get ahold of owner first. I hate to have to crush a lot of good parts. email me for pictures of the car.
  17. Funny, i just left Tampa florida, oh well, overall condition is pretty good. send me your email and i will send you some pictures. of it. like i say it does run and drive, but it misses and is beleived to have a blown head gasket. or you can call me at 214-763-7753. no ac came with the car. but it does have heat. it has no title, but i can get one if the person wanted one would have to do a mechanics lein on the car in order to get one. no real rust that i can see, but a few small dents. nothign major.
  18. Just bought a 1987 GL Wagon with a 5 speed dual range tranny, the motor is carbed, and it does run and drive , but the motor has a blown head gasket. not much water getting into the oil, but am contiplating on parting out the vehichle or fixing it and putting it on the road again, it is a light blue in color, and light blue interior. If anyone is interested in the whole thing let me know. Would rather get rid of the car as a whole then to part it out. but i will part it out if the demand is high enough.
  19. Well you can bring it over here Caleb, and i am sure that the two of us can figure out a way to make things work again for you. Hot ? ? ? HAHAHAHA its only 82 degrees today . LOLOL It was hotter in Florida.
  20. Been around alot of cars for a long time and that was my first to see a coil do something like that, but then again, i dont have the yellow accel coil, or have a need for it. on the turbo brat i am just running the stock coil off the ea82t car. mounted in a verticle posistion. And Caleb, no problem at all having to save your day. Just remember your running a F.O.R.D. Part. Found On Road Dead. Might want to through that wrench and an extra coil in the back of your car.
  21. Ok after you get done looking for all of the above, then you can look for a nice turbo motor to drop into it preferably a turbo motor from a newer generation. Auctions make great places to find great deals on motors. Found a 2003 WRX , 6,300 some odd miles, wrecked of course, but still ran. only 7 thousand.
  22. I was always told that lowering a vehicle meant that you lowered the clouds to the roof of the vehicle.
  23. it seemed to work better with the hood down too caleb. HEHEHEHE but it put out a nice spray of mist from what i could tell. Still thinking about how to maybe make the water colder before you spray it. Just a thought here, what about putting the ac dryer into the bottle, run the ac, get the water nice and cold, then turn your ac off when you want to tear up the raod with your cold water ? Just a thought. instead of having to stop, get ice, and put the ice into the bottle. i know fords have a pretty good size bottle you could use for letting the small dryer the soobs have into the lid with out much modification. and could still have room to add water when you need to refill the bottle.
