September 6, 201312 yr Author playin with springs, this is the fun part. maybe use the stock springs at a angle, looks like they have 5-1/2" travel and with the rear chopped off will be to stiff, so at a angle the travel will be greater , still in the idea fase, maybe chop off them leaf springs and they will act as forward links with flex, will need a ladderbar or something to prevent the rearend from twisting and maybe a panhard bar, will see as this develops
September 7, 201312 yr Author got the rear springs shortened , these are front Toyota lift springs , these wont be springs but forward links front a-arms will need strengthened plan to add a 3rd pivot point up front and add a brace to the A Arm Edited September 7, 201312 yr by Scott in Bellingham
September 7, 201312 yr plan to add a 3rd pivot point up front and add a brace to the A Arm I like it all. But I'm wondering if your 3rd pivot/brace shown here might interfere with the steering rack? Might need to make that brace arc shaped to fit over the inner tierods.
September 8, 201312 yr Author I like it all. But I'm wondering if your 3rd pivot/brace shown here might interfere with the steering rack? Might need to make that brace arc shaped to fit over the inner tierods. Illl be designing it on the complete car

September 15, 201312 yr Author got the rear axle in position, the fronts all hooked up, now for the fun part springs looks like the front will end up with about a 10-11 inch lift to level it out Edited September 15, 201312 yr by Scott in Bellingham
September 15, 201312 yr Author been 1 week on this so far, happy with the progress and the results, hope to have it usable within a couple weeks, its been awhile since I went out wheelin, it was last winter up in the snow last time I was out, I thought I had a set of Impreza FWD axles but Ive misplaced them in my shop somewhere, Ill need them when I put the dualrange in, Ill set up the rear and then build the front to match, looks like at least a 10" lift , the rear will get the hatch put back on shortened a bunch
September 15, 201312 yr Looks nice with that axle back there. (nver thought I'd say that about a subaru) at any rate will be a fun ride I wonder about axle wrap and side slip. Any triangulation in the works?

September 16, 201312 yr yes it will have a panhard rod, and a bar to stop axle rap With that in mind why run the leaf springs at all and instead set up a 3 link?Just use the struts you have already to suspend it.
