New to USMB. long time Subaru owner

Featured Replies

Morning everybody!

Marco here. new to this site but long time Subaru enthusiast.

back in Italy I had a 2003 WRX, and a 2003 STI.

Came to USA 4 years ago and in 2012 I bought my first brand new car. an other STI.

I always liked the BRAT and I'm now looking for one.

I heard this is the best place to find information about these beauties so here I am!

Hone your search skills and expand your range:

Autotrader and Ebay are long shots, ebay is good if you don't mind paying top dollar for what you get.

In general expand your range a LOT - the northeast and midwest Brats are mostly gone due to rust and the ones still available are prone to rust issues. You may land on one locally but you'll greatly increase your odds by looking south and west where rust is not an issue and you'll likely end up with a vehicle that's in better condition and lasts longer too.

I am into XT6's and the last two I bought were from thousands of miles away - Texas and California, because I'm tired of rust. Well worth the effort.

Thank you very much for the links!

I am well aware of the rust problems in the midwest regions.

I've been keeping an eye on BRATs for a while and I always looked at "classics" cars around the country.

I want to buy a BRAT where I can work on during the long Ohio winter and I will take my time to bring her back to "her glory" :-)

will keep you updated!

car runs great, however soon it will be completely taken apart for full restoration.

This week end I will start to strip everything down on the BRAT,

Hard thing to do when the car is running so well. lol

Ah, nice nice nice! Good luck with her (all cars should be "her" IMHO). It looks like you have a terrific canvas to get things started. But, if you want to get rid of those icky wheels that I see stacked up near the Fun Tops, I'll take 'em.  :)  I might have a set of stock wagon wheels to trade you.

For what it's worth, I've got a pile of brat parts a mere 4 hours away and a brother that drives through Cincinnati pretty often. If you discover that you need anything, let me know.
