Weber carb secondary not opening

Featured Replies

I have an EA81 with a weber carb that I put on it years ago. It worked great for a long time. It even has a 5sp tranny now and worked great after that instal, but now the secondary doesn't open up, so it has zero power on hills.  It's fine in stop and go traffic around town, just won't go when you need a bit more power.

I don't think it is sticking. I can open easily with my hand. I put a new pulley on it to the cable pull (I think) is correct now. what else could it be?

Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the secondary passages are clogged or the accelerator pump is shot.  If it's been on there for years without any maintenance, then it's probably time for a rebuild or a cleaning at the very least.  The rebuild kit comes with a new accelerator pump diaphragm.

Ferox, thanks for the reply. I have cleaned it a couple times over 4 years or so. Is it common for those to go out in just a few years? I'll take a look and see if that's it.

Thanks again for the reply.  Let me know if there is anything else you think it could be too.

... what else could it be?

This might be a pretty Dumb idea but still I'll throw it:

Have you verified that the Linkage between Primary and Secondary is in Good working order?

Kind Regards.
