Featured Replies

Hi, i have a subaru legacy outback 1997 with a ej25 n/a . I installed a new engine ej25 jdm n/a .. The same specs. But my automatic transmission busted . I want to know witch transmission fit on my subaru .. I want something bolt on.. Thank you for your help

4.44 gears 95-99 outbacks and foresters the legacy one is same but is 3.90 or 4.11 ratios But could swap your front diff if needed

2.5 liter legacys should also be 4.44 - like GT's and LSi

you can use any auto trans from 96 - 98 from a 2.5L car,

Outback, Forester, GT, LSi, in that order.

the GT and Lsi will throw off your speedo a little.

check out www.car-par.com , put in your zip and sort by distance.

search each year and model separately.

So... 2.5 auto trans Legacy GT, LSi, and Outback from 95-99 have 4.44 FDR?

Any idea what 1-4 ratios are on that trans?

i have no idea.

but subaru is such a small car company, it is very costly for them to have a ''special'' trans.

generally speaking, in the late 90s,

from the trans oil pump back, all the trans are the same.

only the front difffs are different.

i have heard some say this is not 100% correct for all years and all models,

but is is close enough so that the trans will move the car.
