80 brat brake issue

Featured Replies

Ny brat just started pulling to the left when i mash the brake hard? Has new calipers and pads anyone have any idea?

hi,

usually due to air in line somewhere causing unequal pressure to either side,   but a couple of other things.   there is a nub on the back of the piston side pad , on each side of the vehicle,  it has to fit inside the recess on the caliper piston,  i have seen brakes come apart  and the piston was not turned to the correct position and the nub caused the pad to " not lay flat " on the piston,, bad and unequal friction on that pad.    the caliper has to be able to move fairly easily on the guide pins , sometimes that is overlooked, , maybe one of the pad retainer clips kicked out of place and is causing the pad to wedge a little.  oil, grease, or brake fluid on the pads?  did the rotors get turned or were they glazed?

rebleed the lines and if it still has an issue you gonna need to go back in and inspect.

The brakes have worked good for 4 months no issues just all a sudden it started this

Then something changed.  Air in the brake lines is unlikely.  A sticky pin is very possible.

Pull it apart and inspect.  Clean and grease the pins.  Look for leaky brake lines.  Maybe a clip has come loose and the pad is cocking.  It only take a few minutes, but I know, it is really cold outside!

Ok guys need some urgent help. My brakes about a week ago pulled to the left when mash them and then it quit an now today the right side caliper stuck. There new calipers. Whats going on

Idk ive been told alot diffrent things. I heard the sliders for the caliper are siezed up

If they are new thats really unlikely but anythings possible

Did you grease the sliders when you put the new calipers on? It's an easy step to miss.

There like 6months old and i forgot to grease them could that be the issue?

Yep.  The slides need to be greased.

Now that they have been run dry, they might be corroded.  Id suggest lightly sanding them with some 600 or 800 grit to clean them up prior to greasing.

Ok would the slides been the reason for it pulling left and now sticking on the right side?

If they are not sliding freely, they will be unpredictable as hell.

tear both side apart, clean them up, and grease them correctly.    Problems should go away.

If not, the caliper pistons themselves might be corroded to the point that they are starting to seize in the bore of the caliper.

I hope the calipers them selves are fine like i said their more less new. Ill grease em and see i guess
