Turbo Diesel CrossTrek Coming to America in 2015?

Featured Replies

I talked to the owner of a Subaru performance shop in Montreal and he swears that the XV turbo diesel will be available in NA in 2015.  I would love to buy what the Europeans are now enjoying (along with the 6-speed manual I might add - he did not know about the 6-speed though).  Anyone hear any rumors on this possibly being more than just a rumor? :P

If they bring it I will seriously consider buying one.  I had heard rumors the techs were getting hybrid and disel training (and we already got the hybrid)....

Considering the regulations on fuel mileage in the near future, they'll HAVE to bring the diesel to the states eventually.

I have a letter here from SOA that states that it won't happen due to the cost of certification.  Not a form letter either a real typed letter from a real person.

I hope I am wrong and they were not truthful I will say that.  I want a diesel

There's a company in Nashville, TN importing the diesels and ECUs. Unfortunately, the wiring is left up to the buyer and I'm not so sure they're importing the transmissions. But a diesel in an older d/r GL would be able to turn some pretty big tires.

Edit: If Subaru keeps selling cars as well as they are, cost probably won't be an issue before too long.
