Brat Jump seats mod question?

Featured Replies

When I got my brat the jump seats were not bolted up. I was thinking that since they won't be daily use I would leave the bottom rack bolted up as a sudo luggage rack. And somehow rig up a quick detach for the seats themselves. I was wondering if any of you guys rig up a quick detach for the seats I was thinking a pin lock instead of a bolt and screw. Any thoughts?

I thought the bottom rack was welded into the bed?  bolt out would be nice though.

I will post pics tonight to show you what mine looks like

Do you happen to have pictures of your setup?

I am weary of modifying my seats.

A cop friend of mine told me "if it passes yearly inspection and it passed DOT laws in the year of its production, then it's street legal"

I am afraid of modifying the seats and voiding that 'street legal' purpose of the seats.

Just something to think about....or correct me if I am wrong (it's happened before).

The frames were welded in from the factory. Most have been cut out, some have been redone as bolt on.

I've contemplated selling my set of seats, handle bars, frame, and head rests... or remaking the frame. I'd like to make it into two parts and lower sitting. This way I can leave one seat in most of the time, and it would be much safer for an adult to ride in the back then; as their whole head would not be protruding over the top of the vehicle.

since the 86 never got them mine are just welded to some steel flat sheet and bolted to the bed
