Oil Pan Seal - $11 and change?

SEALING OIL PAN
Make: Subaru  | Part#: 11122AA340
List Price: $16.03
Your Price: $11.54

Pretty crazy for a little seal.  Guess that's how it goes.

I have in my hand, right now, a trim cap for the Baja. Part #91067AE01A. It's a piece of molded plastic, about half an inch in diameter.

Paid $10 for it.

I just wanted to see what it looked like, since they're rumored to self-destruct pretty well if you try to remove one from an existing trim piece. Gonna see if I can't find some way to recreate them using a cheaper method...

The little seal at the rear of the pan on the breather tube.  It's a little cup type seal.

yeah I couldn't believe the price of that and the oil pump o-ring when I was putting my engine together last year.

My dealer couldn't even find that little seal. I needed one when I pulled my engine to reseal it a few years ago. They gave me a regular o-ring that wasn't anywhere near wide enough. I ended up just painting the old seal with RTV when I stuck the pan back on.
