March 15, 201412 yr For anyone that owns one of the Metra or Scosche stereo headunit adapter kits, can you measure exactly how thick it is or how much further away from the dash it will mount the headunit on a 3d gen wagon or sedan? It looks like an awful lot of space for the item to fill--my headunit has a good inch of body still showing, even mounted through a modified RX faceplate that sticks out some. The stock photos online don't really show the dimensions that well, and documentation for them has zero measurements listed.
March 15, 201412 yr I don't have one anymore that I could measure, but from memory, it's probably 1.5"-2". It's considerable....Most DIN head units are about the same depth, and those adapters are designed for it.
March 15, 201412 yr Author Thanks Numbchux. I'll bite the bullet and order one. Worst case I guess, it isn't wide enough and I have to make some mods...or build my own out of wood like Jezek
March 15, 201412 yr Looks to be exactly 1.5 and this is a pretty old school kit but still available just got it yesterday:)
March 16, 201412 yr Author Which kit is that, Discombobulated??? Doesn't look like the Metra or Scosche adapter.
March 16, 201412 yr Here is the eBay listing, I saw it in a junkyard car recently and can't believe they still sell it:) it's so old I had to cut out the single din hole it's set up for a dual knob!!! Have yet to put it in yet but when I do I will post fitment. But cool thing it looks like it will clear without taking the chime box out:) anyway here is the link..http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=351012343463 It feels pretty stout though the plastic is thick and the open spot on the side would be great to add some toggles to, but I think it is made to support the old EQ that came factory.. Lemme know if you want some more pics:) Edited March 16, 201412 yr by Discombobulated
