  1. So I had a GL that I still love but was sadly wrecked:(. Recently I have had a weird thought that I want the old chime back to replace the new chime. Weird, yea it's weird but I personally would love it:) I remember taking out the chime box in my 87 and it actually had a mess of stuff going to it. Only issue I'm wondering is the rev limiter might come out of the same chime box that the door open/key in the ignition does..... Reason this all came about is my daughter was dropped of by her grandpa and he has an early 90's legacy with the same chime and it just was music to my ears..... Thoughts? Thanks everyone!!!!! Disco;)
  2. Well I have decided to work on my debt and drive my truck for a while and look at buying something next year. I am probably going to try to sell this one as is or part it out. I might also keep my eye out for another GL in the meantime.
  3. The things that worry me is the motor and tranny have shifted, cvs are at more of an angle, shifter is off by a selection so nuetral is drive, the tranny bracket on the top in the picture is bowed up about 2inches , timing belt has also broke as soon as I got it home. Water pump was ceased up and bent, lots of damage I fear I cannot see. Yes lots of subarus in CO but I am drawn to that body style and the lowered part of it I don't mind. And most of the ones I can find here are pretty beat up for that year. I don't know guys as stated my life is chaos right now and didn't need this to be going on, I love my truck but for everyday it's killing me on my commute. I'm the type that needs things to be in good shape and fixing this the right way seems to be out of the question, is it possible sure, but is it worth it....I don't know, only I can make the call and it's going to come down to parts availability and time and money, you know like everything:) Thanks for the responses, I'm all over the place so feeling everything out at this point hating that it happened but still trying to get over it and move on or keep it and figure it out...
  4. Well everyone it happened..... Yup I'm pretty heartbroken, 85k on the car ran like a top but the brakes just didn't do what they needed to do, and I can't put all the blame on the suby but my feet were to the floor with nothing locking up and I thought I could stop but apparently not. Rear ended a E250 van and his bumper went right over mine, shifter is tweaked, everything looks pushed up but the motor mounts are intact.... Anyway now that I'm angry talking about it, I have always loved foresters so I found one that looks great and looks to be in very good shape, problem is its in California I'm in Colorado. I can get it shipped but that's quite a gamble. Well here are some pics of what I'm looking at. Any ideas, thoughts, on the whole situation, I mean I could get a loan and fly out to grab it BUT what if it sucks or I feel something is not right with it etc. I don't know guys I'm all over the place right now my life is a mess I miss my suby and I can't drive my Toyota to work everyday it's killing my back. Anybody in LA want to check it out:) not really just diggin at this point I don't know what to do. Guy wants 12.9k but I'm sure that negotiable 79k on the car and it doesn't look too molested, but again pictures is all I have.... Anyway thanks for all your help!!!! Disco.
  5. I have heard that these vents in all cars are to relieve pressure when shutting the doors, makes sense I guess as shutting the doors with the windows open or closed you can feel the pressure difference. But this is all just what I think:)
  6. Can you post some pics if the this, would love to see what it looks like:)
  7. What kind of LEDs did you get?? And yesterday I took my seat covers off to figure out that someone must have been drinking the blackest coffee known to man and spilling every cup possible:(. Carpet spot cleaner I have kinda worked but sucked all the spills out and made it worse!!!!! Then I went to the wet towel with a steam iron and it worked amazing, still need to give it another session but it looks way better...yay Oh and after the seat cover removal I found out I have a little lumbar support lever:) bonus!!!! Also took my drivers seat out to figure out why it felt so worn, I think the springs are just done so I took some huge zip ties and ran them through the springs so the spring wouldn't extend and viola feels like new...yay:) Anyhoo have a good day guys!!! Disco.
  8. Should have seen these guys when I came in to order my lighted key, they literally turned into a jerky blank:) they are always like man nobody has an 87 anymore, and I'm like well I got 65 k on it so get used to it.....
  9. Just replaced my radiator, just swap everything over and call it good, if everything is working chances are you don't need to spend the extra money:)
  10. Gave it a good cleaning and finally got the drivers rear as good as it's going to get, it's ok I think I can deal with it:) Still need to re paint my wheels and find the plastic trim on the drivers side little window but it's coming along:) And here is my other vehicle, not a Suby but equally as neat:). Have a good weekend guys!!!!!
  11. Dang dude, wish everybody threw down pics like that on some questions, wonderful:) As said above is correct, soooooo I take it your oil pressure on the dash doesn't work?
  12. Well I can put a face to the name anyway:)
  13. Yea I figured, well on with the quest of getting the part...yay. Not having my Suby long finding out it's hit or miss on availability from the dealer or aftermarket. And the yard by my house has 1 wagon left but it's a MT... So does this just screw out or does the pan have to come off?? I'm currently having no issues with shifting at all or anything else for that matter so what does this guy do??
  14. Nothing showing up unless it's my iPad:(
  15. You going to get to 100 posts today........... In the 80's the hubcaps were acceptable......kinda:) but dang without the roof and the caps that thing is wonderful:)
  16. So I'm fiddling with my vacuum lines making sure no cracks or leaks and I pulled the little elbow hose going to the transmission and it leaked fluid for a second then stopped, probably a spoonful? Is this normal? Doesn't seem to be but I also was thinking it was getting AT fluid up into the vacuum lines but it was just right at that elbow. Thanks in advance:) Disco.
  17. Dang it just had my dash apart, but I do need to get in there this weekend I will snap some shots if you still need them but my numbers matched the vacuum housing I remember looking at it and the blank one crap I can't remember. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/69467-ea82-dashboard-backlights-upgrade-to-hid-white-led´s/?hl=leds But I know this thread had pics and details of taking them apart and putting them back together, problem is pics expired but might work incognito on chrome something about the pic account. Thumb through it see if you can see them if not I will see if you still need them when I take my dash apart once again:)
  18. This is all my opinion so do what you want with it. 1) Performance wires, the stock wires are plenty good for a nice running stock motor and I have never seen any improvements over stock. Spend the money on a nice set from the dealer. They will fit perfect and the set I bought was 35 bucks. 2) Performance coil, don't need it the hitachi coil is plenty and is literally bulletproof, search about it on these boards, plenty of threads on coils causing issues with other components and failing. 3) Performance plugs, just stick with a nice stock plug, these motors love NGK and when i first got my car it had some weird platinum gold covered neon silver tipped ion fire Electra charged crap and it ran better with some nice stockers:) 4) Performance air filter, had one in my blazer and hated it, had to clean it and oil it and it caked my maf with an oily residue I had to clean once and I dumped it and went back to a stocker and it was exactly the same. Once again this is my opinion and these cars were designed to run at an optimum level and they will run that way if you just take care of it and give it what it had not what it doesn't need:) Oh what kind of actuator are you talking??
  19. Just took mine apart and figured out if you don't get how it comes apart sit and stare at it, and stare at it some more, light pressure doing anything, be careful. Things will break easily, and if you want to do anything like led upgrades do it now the less you have to take apart the dash the better:) Good luck:) Disco.
  20. Wow texting claims another victim.......man......ok I'm sure you have been beat up by everybody you know so I won't go there:) I do believe she's a done deal by the looks of the under dash that popped out and your roof is tweaked the internal damage is probably worse than it looks, looks like a sweet parts vehicle:) get another one and pick it to the bone and make another sweet ride:) Sucks you had to learn the hard way but at least it was a tree and you didn't get hurt good luck:) Disco.
  21. Bit the bullet and got some new shoes today:) PO had the cheapest tires you could possibly buy, and they ride like poop, I think they were 155's so 2 sizes too small:( Put stock size on and wow it rides so much better!!!! The other tires were so thin it would feel weird and uncontrollable on grooved pavement. Although I know a guy that has some really rare pugs but didn't want to spend the 250 for the wheels and then the tires would double in price.... Good thing is he's just going keep them in his garage so I can have at them whenever:)
