  1. I think with some painter's tape and newspaper, you could probably just spray this on smooth and let sit to cure. I've actually thought about doing it myself!
  2. Will the 22" wiper blades still work with that adapter, or would I go down to a smaller size? ('86 XT GL single-wiper windshield) I also wonder if the Trico B98999-146 Wiper Adapter will work as well.
  3. I found one once that had a two-hole adapter, but the spacing was all wrong, so thinking may just have to stick with OEM blades, which I can get, or perhaps try the Aamco ones.
  4. Thanks for the info, Numbchux. I may check Aanco to see if they have one, but it is nice to know that you can get them from Subaru - and we have a dealer here in town too. Nice guys! The older one always enjoys yakking about the cool XT's and their unique appearance.
  5. Reminds me of when I was able to buy a replacement trim bezel for my 86 XT GL. It was at Subaru of Plano, TX. Stoked!
  6. One of the members a while back was making wiper adapters for people who have the odd 2-hole bayonet wiper arms, so other wipers could be used (example: mine is an 86 XT GL). Does anyone have the details on this? Thanks again!
  7. I'm just trying to think of a way of HOW to get it re-bent back into position, or if that is just a lost cause. I'm hoping I can save it if possible so I can have my seats re-upholstered.
  8. One of the guys I work with seems to think he might know where to find another trim piece if this one is beyond hope (gonna try and be gentle to bend it back in), so we'll see how this goes. At least the windshield doesn't leak without it, so I'm happy there. Just little trim pieces here and there getting brittle after almost 30 years and starting to crumble, but this one was a bit of a surprise. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.
  9. On my 86 XT GL, someone rear-ended me, and my driver's side seat went back, and now won't go all the way up properly. I'm assuming something just got bent bad and needs bending back into shape because the seat goes back and forth - just not all the way upright.
  10. I don't know if this has already been checked or not, but I had a problem with my 86 XT GL overheating and could not figure it out. Finally took it to the shop and they told me that the radiator was congested/constricted about 90%, so had to be swapped out - could not be flushed out. Not sure if you already checked down that road or not.
  11. My wonder wedge - 1986 XT GL. It's over 127,000 miles, but still drives like a dream!
  12. This is my little soobie - an 86 XT GL This is the passenger's side pillar that the trim flew off of. This is the recovered trim piece. I only hope I can get it bent back into shape, or if someone has a spare, that would be awesome too! I just don't know how these attached, but from the looks of the surroundings, it was pretty much adhesived into place with something good and stong. Thanks!
  13. I will take pics and post them here tomorrow when it's light out. It's an 86 XT GL Coupe. :-)
  14. My poor Soobie is falling apart, it seems. I was driving to work today and I noticed out of the corner of my eye, this flash of black flying off my car. I circled around to find it was the trim piece that covers the pillar between the windshield and door! Wow.......that had never happened before, but by the time I circled around to get it, someone had run over it, so it had this bend in it. I did pick it up and take it with, but not sure how to get it back on (assuming I can carefully get it molded back into shape (not TOO terribly bent). Judging by the fittings, it looks like it was attached from inside somehow, so not quite sure how this can be re-attached, or if I should just find some thick rubber washers, position it in place and epoxy it in or something. I know parts like this are hard to come by, so any thoughts or recommendations are always welcome. Thanks!
