May 23, 201411 yr So I'm in the process of tearing the heads off my ea81 to change the head gaskets. My problem is I can't remove the 2 bolts in the valve rockers. Is there a trick to it?
May 23, 201411 yr The head bolts that go through the rocker assembly right? What problem are you having? I think a 17mm and a 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar should knock them looose. Josh
May 23, 201411 yr You have to be aman about it, get some leverage behind them. AFTER you have soaked them with PB Blaster or Yield for a coupld of days each.(rotate motor on stand to top, spray and let sit overnight on each side)
May 23, 201411 yr Author I'm keeping the motor in the car while I do the head gaskets... not sure if there's a way to get the PB blaster in there.
May 24, 201411 yr Yeah, they just won't break loose. Just don't want to mess anything up. Stop being a girl and use a breaker bar. Josh
May 24, 201411 yr Author Haha I'm not being a girl I just really don't want to have to tap out a broken bolt. I'll just use the breaker bar.
May 29, 201411 yr Nice one, El Presidente. Cracking me up. Looks like the breaker bar worked for the mad pig. I just picked up my 3/4" breaker bar, extension, sliding t-handle and ratchet set. An old Williams set... USA. So nice to have. Am so glad I broke my 1/2" breaker bar. It was a cheapo. Now I need to find a tractor to work on.
