Help! Need advise can't get the trans in!

Featured Replies

Subaru gl I'm putting a 4 speed trans n and I got it on the bottom studs but can't get it to go all the way in. And advise tips or tricks? I'm working wth a floor jack and a screw jack thanks

Manual trans? If so I suppose you've aligned the clutch disk?

I ran into the same problem installing a 4spd 2wd, it was like the input shaft didn't want to slide into the pilot bearing. I got a nut started on the bottom driver side and a bolt and nut started on the passenger top and just forced it in. Didn't damage anything amazingly.

If the tranny or engine are new, meaning they've never been mated up before, make certain you don't have too many locating pins. It's easy to miss a pin in the mating surface of the tranny when you already have one in it's opposing position on the engine.
