Hi guys, I've got a 2001 Subaru legacy L sedan with automatic Tranny. Engine is gone, was driving on 1 quart of oil then the knock started and etc.. now the car starts, but dies if you'll drive more than 100 yards. I'm thinking to swop the engine. I found impreza 95' ls on craigslist, also automatic transmission. The problem is it's OBD1, is it going to matter? Is it doable or I should look for something newer?

the 95 impreza is not a plug and play swap into a 01 legacy .

it will never be trouble free.

 

you need a 00 - 03 engine.

00 - 01 would be easier.

I guess I'm just gonna junk it. Anyone needs a good tranny?
