getting my exhaust redone

Featured Replies

Quick question, I am having my exhaust redone, and my lift kit will be here in a couple days. Logic tells me to do the exhaust aftet the lift. I'm only going up 2" in the front but I've never seen mention of having to mod the exhaust after a lift. Insight?

Why did you even ask ?

You were already on the right track.LOGIC. Should have been a Law.

You will know EXACTLY what to do , And When to do it , From here on out. lol

Yeah man, Logic states that you need to know where to put something. :)

cheers

Thank you. I know I've been a noob pest lately, but I'm finally able to afford everything I've been planning for a year and I have been second guessing myself with every purchase. I've read searched and read everything I can get my hands on, I know this stuff back to front. Not a single screw or bolt on this brat has not been turned by me. I got this. :)

-cheers

Put the new lift on, then think about getting exhaust.

Past thinking about it lol. Pulled an exhaust stud and I'm tired of patching leaks. Welding on your back just a few inches from from the exhaust is no fun. I need it done right and I wanna be back in the mountains!

Will the 2" lift drop the crossmember down or just the struts? If it drops the crossmember down then you will need to modify your exhaust to tuck it up close to the car.If not still modify the exhaust to tuck it up close to the car. :)

Then run a skidplate so you DON'T smash your exhaust/oil pan.

Some people don't like running skidplates because they hang down lower, but you know what sucks worse than welding your exhaust in close quarters?Drilling and tapping the stock aluminum heads in the close quarters of under your car...

Ripped my exhaust out ONCE,After attempting to get various studs to stay in place,I rotated the exhaust flanges and used the other holes and put a skidplate under there.
