Will a starter from a 98 legacy Brighton fit on a 98 legacy outback lmt?

Both are 5 speed mt, if that helps. Let me know, thanks ! :)

what's wrong with the present starter? There are rebuild kits for them to replace worn contacts and plungers too.

well, if an ea82 5mt starter from an 87 gl, fits a 96 impreza with a 4eat, then it will work.

I didn't want to mess with a rebuild kit because I already have the other starter in my parts car. The starter is just dead

Go on Napa's or anyone elses site, check the part numbers on the 2. If they're the same, you're golden. They should be the same, but this method is a good way for other parts and cars as well.

the MT starter is different from the AT starter, but 90 - 99 they are all the same.

does that make sense?

swap away.

ps:

imho,

a used suabru starter is WAY better than anything from the parts store.

Thank you very much! Both are 98's and MT, so they I should be good. Thanks again!

I agree, mostly, but it's faster to get part numbers from the aftermarket than from the dealers.

Different point. John's trying to steer its_masters to a Subaru starter (used OEM) rather than a new unit from the auto parts store that is some lesser brand.
