1983 brat motor swap

Featured Replies

I have a 1983 subaru brat and I want to swap my 1.8 out and put in a turbo motor. Can anyone tell me what years and makes will work. I haven't gotten the motor yet but when I start hunting it down it would help if I knew what years and makes will work. Any other advice would be great and appreciated

+1 for a lot of work to come if you choose to do that swap.

An EA turbo would be less work, those turbos are not that reliable though, especially if they have been abused.

How much more power do you really need?

If you want a major improvement off the line just swap out the carb for a Weber, that will also improve the top end too.

That frankenmotor is powerful enough to wear the car out with out a turbo. An ej22 is quite the kicker by itself.
