September 19, 201411 yr Ok so I was under my wagon tonight replacing the differential fluid when I saw this little sweetheart. is this another fuel filter? (Well I take that back I know that it's a fuel filter, I just don't know what kind of fuel filter it is) could someone give me some info on it? it's located underneath the car just behind the back passenger side tire. Thanks all! Edited September 19, 201411 yr by Sapper 157
September 19, 201411 yr It is the main fuel filter. The second one under the hood is a secondary filter/separator. They don't cost very much, well under $10.00 the last time I purchased one.
September 19, 201411 yr Author Ok thanks. I replaced the one under the hood in early july. I'll Replace this one ASAP because Im pretty sure neither has been changed in the thirty years the car has been on the planet.
September 19, 201411 yr I hope not, they are not that big to begin with. If you need it and can wait until tomorrow I can give you the part number. I have a set of new ones in a bag in my barn. They are a lot of different numbers and The biggest thing is to make sure you get the filter with the inlet and outlet fairly close together. It is identical to the one under the hood except for the third outlet. Pronto PF9157 If you want it shipped to your house for under $5.00!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Filter-Pronto-PF9157-/161289734845?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item258d9e0abd&vxp=mtr Edited September 19, 201411 yr by bratman2
September 19, 201411 yr I use NAPA Gold 3002 filters. They're clear so you can see how much junk they've removed from the fuel, and they're under $4.
September 19, 201411 yr I couldn't remember the exact price but knew they were not much. I actually have a pair of both filters in the barn. I seemed to be well stocked. Bought a pair and didn't realize I already had a pair in my parts bin. The NAPA filter is for an EA82 not an EA81. Edited September 19, 201411 yr by bratman2
September 19, 201411 yr The NAPA filter is for an EA82 not an EA81. Hmmm... I thought ghe EA81 used the same 5/16" I.D. fuel line as the EA82. Am I mistaken?
September 19, 201411 yr Author It is identical to the one under the hood except for the third outlet. Yeah I already replaced the one under the hood thanks for the offer but im just gonna hit O'reillys
September 19, 201411 yr I was not offering mine. I just linked an Ebay add for the filter like I have. EA82 filter has the same size outlet just located wrong for an EA81.
September 19, 201411 yr Author Oh my bad. I misunderstood your comment, bratman2 Edited September 19, 201411 yr by Sapper 157
September 19, 201411 yr Author Got a new one at my local auto parts store for $3.39, didnt even have to go to O'reillys.
September 19, 201411 yr That's cheap enough. I knew they didn't cost much. Just puzzled how I ended up with a pair of both filters in the box. Must be getting a little absent minded, lol!
September 20, 201411 yr Author haha I guess so... something interesting, it says on both old and new filters MADE IN ISRAEL. interesting. i didnt know Israel made auto parts.
