Featured Replies

Hi, I have that old problem were my starter relays are going out and some times it will start and sometimes it won't. I have a donor car but don't know were they are located or what they look like. If someone can help that would be great! 1984 subaru gl

There is no relay.  It is usually one of 2 things when the intermittent start thing crops up.   One of the contacts in the back of the starter solenoid is worn out.  It can be replaced.

The other is that one or more of the several connections in the wiring from the key - shift lockout - starter is slightly bad, causing just enough resistance to prevent the solenoid from pulling in all the way.  This can be fixed by adding a relay so that the old wiring doesn't have to carry the high current required by the solenoid.
