loss of coolent

Well guys I'm losseing coolent and the heeds where done about a year ago I was thinking intake manifold gaskets if that doesn't fix it I'll do the block test buts its a small loss maybe 12 to 18oz every 200 or so miles any tips would be great thanks

You could have the system pressure tested see if you can see any leaks in the system.

I saw a pinhole leak in an upper rad hose on a Subaru once that caused a similar condition

I thought the same thing but the only hoses that are not brand new are the heater core hoses

These can often leak very slowly from the thermostat housing.

Intake Manifold gaskets do not see any coolant on these engines. There is a coolant crossover pipe on top of the block beneath the manifold that has separate gaskets. Those can leak as well, but are not very common leak points.

OK that makes sense is it possible that my heater core is going without leaking. My heat has started to go in and out but not a lot maybe for 30 seconds or so

This would be a good starting point, but start with the hoses first.  A leak at the end of a hose could appear to be a heater core leak, and since the hoses are a whole lot easier to replace than the core, that's where I would start.  Then do the pressure test or do the pressure test first and look at the ends of the heater hoses for leaks.
