moosens
Going to see if I still have the part manual page on that. Bit of a blizzard out now so I'm not checking my wagon just yet.
moosens
Must be on my last hard drive. Basically , the round silencer up top has a hose which goes directly to the air cleaner box. You have that red stubby connecting hose to that brass fitting. There's one large diameter stem on the driver;s side of the air box. That's the normal destination for that hose you're missing. Note the diameter of the silence outlet and air cleaner inlet are the same. And the two large hoses coming from the valve rocker covers meet at the front of the air box. Going by a 1977 factory service manual ,but should still be the same as I recall. Yours on the driver's side has been chopped. bulletproof
i have a big hose from both covers to the both of the air cleaner. the red hose should also go to the the bottom of the air cleaner.. that leaves a hose from the intake that has the brass fitting in it.my chilton skips the 79 .. . spicypeanut
That looks like part of the emissions equipment. That metal bendy silver tube helps recirc the exhaust from what I remember.
moosens
Air Suction Valve is that bendy thing.
djcommie
The red tube is where the PCV valve goes, the brass barbed fitting is usually replaced by a tee to the valce cover tubes. Earlier cars just vent those tubes into the air cleaner, later cars through a PCV valve.
bulletproof
installed the all new tubes/ hoses, replaced the red tube and flipped the tee over and hooked everything back up to air cleaner .. seems to run better.. still climbing in from passenger side... cant be that hard to find a outer door handle. I saw one that looked brand new on ebay. I'll see if I can find it again. I'm pretty sure you can use 1 handle mechanism for either side with a little creativity.
