Legacy Brighton

Featured Replies

I seem to have just bought a '9x Legacy Brighton (EJ22, 5 spd).  Looks pretty much like a "normal" Legacy, but has no tach.

What other strangeness might be found in this thing?

Brightons are kind of odd beast. I've had two over the years, one impreza, and one legacy. The legacy had no tach, no right mirror, crank windows, no rear wiper, and only only had front speakers. I ended up using that car for an ej swap, as the harnesses is a bit simpler than the higher optioned cars. The impreza I drove for a while, that one was a 1.8 awd, no tach, no right mirror, crank windows. As odd as it sounds I actually work on a brighton with leather. Its a 98 or so, I have never seen another car like it. No tach, crank windows. The door cards and seats are matching leather, and they have not been swapped as they are factory crank window door cards, and have not been altered in anyway.

It's the stripper base model. Wiring and hose are there for the rear wiper if you choose to install it. Wiring for cruise control is there if you put in the switches, module, pump, and actuator. Wiring for rear door speakers is there as are front tweeters if you want to install them. You will have to cut the door card to fit the rear door speakers grilles into your interior. Tach can be put in your cluster pretty easily, it's 3 screws from the back once you have the cluster out and apart.

Wiring isn't there for fog lights, power mirrors, power windows or locks. Or heated seats. Or map lights. The last two I wired in myself on my dad's 95. I bought him home a 96 Brighton, so I've started de-brightonizing that one too.

my daily driver is a '95 Brighton with 247,000 on it and it just keeps rolling along - I have done my best with U Pull and Pay parts to de-brightonize it - I added the Tech, factory CD player, power-outlet, A pillar speakers - all the factory wiring is in place, just pull the parts and plug them in!  Great little car!

Brightons also had rear drums not discs
