Heated Seats not Working

Featured Replies

I have 1999 OBW  Neither front seats heat up. I pulled the power connector under both seats. They have 12.5 v and a good ground. So I have power and ground after the fuses and relays. The heater switches seam to work.  I can turn on and off the 12.5 v signal at he connector under seats by turning the heater switches on and off. Checked the resistance on the female side of the connector. They both have 6 ohms resistance. I'm not sure what my next step in the diagnosis process is. Looking for ideas.

steve56,

If you have power to the seat heater connectors when the switches are on, the obvious issue I see is the heating pads or wiring in the seats themselves have gone south.

You can buy aftermarket seat heater pads (not sure Subie has them at a price you'll appreciate) and install them yourself. Search eBay to see what I'm referring to. Good luck!

Of course, parts from a salvage yard would be a good option.  I haven't messed with the heated seats so I'm not sure how easily you could try and remove the pads to swap.  Swapping out the seats sounds easier.  I'd bring a battery with and test any yard seats before you buy (unless the yard has a guarantee).

if you are in desparate need of that heated seat - go to your local Target, Walmart, name your favorite Big Box Store here and get one or two of these:
