May 21, 201510 yr I have a 1993 legacy wagon 5 speed 4 wheel drive ABS pump is leaking brake fluid and the pedal goes to the floor but the brakes still work i was just curious if anyone knew the different years The pump will interchange with and does it have to come out of nother 5speed car or will automatic car work? and also does wagon or sedan make a difference?
May 21, 201510 yr Wagon/sedan/auto/manual shouldn't make any difference. I don't know specifics about the different units on the older cars. I would think there would be only one unit. Maybe two units at most, and they should be easy to differentiate. Later (after 95) there were a few different types but they are easy to differentiate.

May 21, 201510 yr www.car-part.com will show what interchanges - look up your car and see what others are listed. ebay often shows interchanges if you find a subaru part listed there. opposed forces might show interchange as well.
May 21, 201510 yr Best way is to crack the fittings loose on the unit and gravity bleed each port one at a time from bottom to top. Another way (if you think abead) is to flush the entire system first. Get nice new fluid into all of the calipers. Once the new unit is installed you squeeze all of the calipers back and that should force all of the air in the unit up to and out of the MC.

May 29, 201510 yr Author ah, seems easier than I feared. just replaced my ABS pump had a helluva time finding one that would actually interchange found out they made like three different ones but anyway the easiest way I found to bleed the system is to start with the back driver side brake caliper and start pushing all the fluid out from the rear caliper keep adding new fluid as you go so you don't suck it dry and once you finally start getting good clean brake fluid then bleed the passenger front caliper side and then go to the rear passenger brake caliper side and then bleed front drivers caliper side and then you bleed the ABS pump itself took about 20 minutes just to bleed the system have a friend help you makes your life a lot easier just do it the old fashion way someone pump the braks you bleed
