I have a 1998 EJ25 250TB. Occasionally it doesn't start, sounds like it wants to but doesn't fire, it will eventually start if I let it sit for a bit longer, runs ok and doesn't to it all the time.

I had a diagnostic fault code for cam angle sensor.

Is this typical symptoms for a faulty cam angle sensor?

Usually they are either good or failed.  Might check the wiring and plug.

When it does not start are you getting fuel and no spark?

I have read that cam angle fault will cause the ECU to cut fuel.
