July 1, 201510 yr hi, i own a 1991 subaru legacy 1.8L (ej18) right hand drive and i am having major problems finding spare parts. i live in the caribbean and have no subaru agent. my alternator has died so just wondering if anyone knows of a subaru swap that i can use. any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
July 1, 201510 yr Most is the same across the 90s cars. You can use rockauto.com and see which part numbers match from year to year and model to model. If you don't find anything locally, I have an alternator from a 95 Impreza that had an EJ18 which should be a match. Can send it for $25 + shipping. Or any of use stateside who have access to the right one could do similarly.
July 1, 201510 yr An EJ22 should pretty much bolt in using the 2.2 intake manifold. They were made to be exchangeable. Emily
July 2, 201510 yr if you are asking about an alternator, any alt, 90 - 94 will work off of any leagcy, impreza, ej22, or ej18. others years will probably work , but htis should give you plenty to choose from.
July 2, 201510 yr or have yours rebuilt - a local electrical shop or do it it yourself - replace the bearings and bushings. the voltage regulator you probably won't have available though, but the other stuff is fairly generic.
