Need help fast no start

Featured Replies

Need help fast. I sold a 96 legacy with 2.2. It would not start once in a while. I'd let it sit 10 or 15 minutes it would restart fine. Once started it ran great and never shut down. It got worse over time. I changed the ECM started fine. Thought I fixed it but I was wrong. ANY IDEAS ? Crank sensor Or coils? It doesn't have spark when it won't start. tried starter fluid. Car being pickup in 2 days.

There are a lot of things it could be. Before replacing a bunch of parts we need more info and diagnose the problem. Let's start by diagnosing the problem

First off is it a hard start when warm or cold? Is the check engine light on?

Crank or cam sensor, either one will give a no-spark condition, but both will set codes. Even if the CEL isn't on check it for codes.

The igniter module on the firewall can give intermittent spark. Used is the best option here. New ones are expensive, and aftermarket parts don't usually last long.

How was no spark verified, an actual spark tester or just starting fluid? Starting fluid is not a reliable diagnosis for no spark.

Thanks changed the crank sensor and it seems to start now. I've started the car every few hours and so far so good.
