4EAT shift linkage solutions for lifted rigs; What did you do?

Featured Replies

All my previous subaru lifts have been manuals so I have never had to deal with this before. I have a 4EAT tranny and with the 4inch crossmember blocks the tranny shift cable is now too short. What solutions have already been found? Is there an alternate cable from another application? A good way to extend the existing cable? And any pictures would be very helpful!

I haven't tried it in this application, but I tried to put a Legacy shift cable in an SVX....and it was several inches too short. An SVX cable might be exactly what you need

Thanks, good potential lead. I emailed Scott @ SJR and he seemed to say that the cables usually reach (on non-Bajas) after being unclipped, mine runs right from the shifter to the tranny. I will check into that SVX cable, were the ends roughly the same connectors and configuration?

Yea, I think so. It's been a while since we did it, but I seem to remember that the only problem was the length. We definitely got it hooked up on one end.

Naturally not one SVX cable known to man out there, I'll find one though. Pics show it to be a strong likely match. I posted some pics in the readers rides area of the Baja with the new lift and tires. Can't wait to wrap up the details and run this thing!

I show one in the country. Baxter Subaru in Omaha, NE, 402-397-8300 (35151PA000 is the part number I show for AWD, there's 35151PA010 for '94-'97 FWD...of which I see 2 in the country....I'm not sure what's different about it)
