L / XT series front wheel bearings

Featured Replies

I'm in the process of chasing down some unexplained play in my front wheels at the moment and I suspect someone has fitted clearance bearings like 'C4' or something instead of what should be in there.

I found some spare bearings I was given 'for the subaru' and they are 'C4' clearance rated, I suspect they were easier to get in the '2RS' rubber sealed type at the bearing shop and with our aussie 'nah she'll be right' attitude was told, "yeah mate, they're the ones"

Does anyone know what the OE 906010015 bearings actually are? plain 6207 or something different like 6207c3?

I cant see wheel bearings needing a high speed clearance rating like c3 or c4...I certainly don't want any slop!

Anyones input on this is welcome, based on experience though...

Couldn't say, however the correct bearings are really cheap at machine shops in the US, you could try there. Just stop into any machine shop and ask about 6207 bearings, they should be like $5 each, for that I'd rather not do the job twice. That said, front wheelbearings on a GL are ridiculously easy...
