Firmly Subaru forever.or 86 Subaru.replaced cluster.with good one.bulbs.now speedo not working.refresh my memory.the part on the tranny

I could be mistaken about this but I think the 86 model used a mechanical cable for the speedo.

There was a post about it a week or two ago but I forget for the speedo on the flaky 99 clusters what it was, I thought someone said a cold solder joint or something with needing a better or additional ground wire something like that?

Yes can not find it so no sensor on tranny.I replaced cluster

If the cruise works, it's probably the cluster. If the new one was used it could also be bad. 99 is year specific and a lot had problems. If the cruise does not work it could be one of the transmission speed sensors. This is very well documented online. Google 1999 Legacy speedometer and you will get all kinds of info.

Seems like something wrong with title.title says 99 but the cluster is 97.

Or possible 98.
