Cant find a clutch bearing for 83 Hatch

Featured Replies

I, and the transmission shop in which it is in, cannot find the release bearing Koyo DAC32358N for the clutch. I have been trying to bring this car back to life and am almost there except for this bearing. I am at my witts end. Its been in the shop(s) close to 2 years being rebuilt, restored, and transmission sealed etc. I spent alot of money only to end up with a transmission not working due to a bearing. Aamco is trying to find one with others in the trade but since nobody is making money off of it and it being extremely difficult if not impossible to find I do not know where else to turn. Please help, I do want to get this little car back on the road. I understood that I would never get back what I put into it, yet I do not want it to end this way.

Thanks,

James

partstrain.com has one listed for the '84 BRAT. NSK # WO133-1632753, $21.95

They don't list one for your '83 Hatch. Strange......

If your Hatch is 4WD, the above bearing will work.

Thank you, I will look into this and it is a 4x4 1800 engine. Have you used this before? Amazon has bearings that have #'s starting with "wo....." which say they will work also yet the transmission guy has shied away from it for some reason or another weather it be a specific pattern or something I do not know since I do not know what my part looks like and have never seen it. You see the automotive shop before, which I had major problems with, said they did some clutch work yet I have no proof what they did and even if they installed a different bearing which was a wrong one. Those original people are gone and therefore have nobody to ask. The transmission shop now sent it off to a bearing company to get specifics on the part to help in the search, hence the long wait because these people do not make anything off this bearing. I wonder if you or these people mentioned above know if there are any differences in the clutches between the models and if it would work and just buy it to give to the transmission guy and say "hey, see if this will work", anything to get the ball rolling again.

Thanks Tom

MY BAD! Upon further discussion with the mechanic at the transmission shop, this bearing was part of a cluster inside the manual transmission. A Koyo DAC2358N bearing. It was not part of the clutch.

Bearings are not typically specific to a vehicle in this application. Any bearing shop should be able to cross reference a compatible bearing.

Google search reveals three such stores in your city.
