2001 Outback rear door open alarm

Featured Replies

I cannot get the rear wagon door light alarm to go out.  The door alarm lights work correctly on the other 4 doors, but the back door open light will not go out when the door is 100% closed.  Any suggestions on how to correct/ Thanks.  Dennis

check out the plunger switch that gets pushed in when the tail gate is closed. The switch may be defective.

Probably not your issue but I had this problem on my '00obw. It turned out it was because of the rubber cargo mat. For some reason on mine if that's even slightly back too far, the door closes like normal but the light stays on. It must press the door just enough to make the dash light go on though it feels completely closed.

My outback and legacy both had a similar issue. On mine the handle to open the trunk was sticky. Make sure its returning properly or its basically still trying to open the trunk.

my 01 obw had that problem.  I had to cut the wire to the latch to make it go out, seemed to be a rust issue. I have since replaced the entire latch & handle assembly .
