I'm completely confused on starter applications.

 

  What starters are interchangeable with...(1995  2.2 automatic Impreza)

 

  

 I know that they need to be specifically for automatic and that Legacies are different.

 

  Are they the same for 1.8 Impreza automatic? Are they the same for Impreza from 1993 up to 1999? (or is 1997 and up different)?  Are same year 2.2 and 2.5 automatics different?

I believe all 90's Subaru's had the same starter. The only difference was between the auto and Manuel starters.

 

Also most of the older 90's had gear reduction starters with a rebuildable cylinoid, these have very identifiable sound and are my favorites for reliability.
